The Avon Beach Cafe is one of the area's original buildings from the mid 1920's. The Derham family have been running it since the early 1930's. To start with it was an old tea house serving just cream teas and sandwiches, with a croquet lawn and crazy golf in front of the cafe. The building itself has changed little, but extensions have opened it up considerably, to cope with today's trade. The menu is appealing with the special breakfasts being popular with the locals and visitors alike. Homemade meals, fish and chips, jacket potatoes are just a few of the meals available. There are stunning views across Christchurch Bay to the Needles the Isle of Wight, and Hengistbury Head and all the boats coming and going from Christchurch Harbour.
